What have they done with God?

This past week, a large Lutheran organization has been debating how to involve or exclude, recognize or remove the homosexual leaders of their church as well as determine their position on the union of same-sex couples.

USA Today reported: “The Rev. Robert Goldstein, a gay minister at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago, wore a rainbow sash around his cleric’s collar as he urged delegates to “go beyond the justice of incrementalism” and remove all limits on gay leadership in the denomination. I’m a gay pastor in this church. I serve faithfully. I love it,” he said. “Our church must go beyond institutionalizing fear.”

I was saddened to read this article and hear this news.  While studying the letter of Paul to the Romans, I observed the possible cause for the state of affairs today in the world and the church as well.

Romans 1:18-23 – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.”

Man does not have any viable to deny the existence of God, yet mankind does this very thing.  Part of the reason I believe (and Paul will speak to this later in the letter) is that when there is an acknowledgement of God, then the conviction of right and wrong that man has within him from his God-given conscience must be addressed.  However, if you can get rid of the moral standard then you can get rid of morality itself.

Romans 1:24-32 – Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; an although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

When we get rid of God or change His standards to fit our desires, we lose the power of God.  No longer do we have a standard of what is right or wrong and we are left to our own devises.  Just look at how many of the things listed above are promoted, practiced and even accepted today!  Paul is accurately describing not only the world around him at the time he wrote these words, but the state of the evil age currently as well.  When man takes God out of the picture, this list describes man doing things the way he wants for his pleasure and glory alone.

Not knowing what the government of the country you live in will do nor what the churches around us will choose – we must be the people who keep God as the center of our lives.  We must allow the Scriptures to be our standard for what is right and wrong.  We cannot change God for who He is and what He desires.

  • How can we do this?  What are your thoughts?

  1. Being a Christian, I have my basis of saying that:

men’s opinion does not necessarily mean that they are not telling lies. It might not be their intention to deceive people by way of their opinions, but based on the bible, this is how they are described:

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    Isaiah 29:13

    The Lord says:

“These people come near to me with their mouth

and honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.

    Their worship of me

is made up only of rules taught by men.

Since you want some opinions, you might as well hear someone guiding you the verses as proof of what he believes in. You can visit below:

As for that last link, I would say it is impossible for a homosexual to make it to heaven =)

  4. There’s tremendous deception in the church today that’s indicative of the last days in which we live. Jesus said that many would come in His name, saying that He was the Christ, and would deceive many. To state, as some would, that homosexuality is OK with God as long as it is “monogamous” is to overlook the many scriptures that condemn this lifestyle. Here’s an excerpt of something that would speak to this – the link to the full article is at the end.

“Beware of the headlines we read and see in this day of the homosexuals demanding rights of leadership in churches and some churches are bowing their knees to those requests doing unrighteousness. The homosexuals are even
establishing their own churches drawing in those who are not homosexuals. These churches deceive the hearts of the simple that know not the truth, Jesus Christ. I quote this from a newspaper article (by Frank E. Lockwood staff writer for the Herald-Leader in Lexington, Kentucky) so that you may see how sick, evil, condemned and depraved (to be bad, corrupt—especially to corrupt morally) these
homosexuals are yet they claim salvation by Jesus Christ. They are as Paul warned in Romans 1:28-32 28 When they refused to acknowledge God,(meaning they refuse to obey the doctrine of Christ that is found in the Word of God making God in their image) he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and
unforgiving. 32 They are fully aware of God’s death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. (NLT)

The statements in the article are from a Rev. Cori Wood (as quoted from the article) a fervent tongues-speaking, Scripture-quoting preacher who is also a lesbian. The article speaks this—“Like many pro-gay theologians Wood says the verses have been misinterpreted or were written by people who didn’t fully understand sexual orientation. At one time, Wood believed the Bible condemned her, too. A believer who has struggled with her sexual orientation since she was 16
years old, she even attempted suicide once. She now believes that the Scriptures, if correctly interpreted, don’t condemn sex between modern, committed, monogamous gay and lesbian couples. If God opposes her lifestyle, Wood says, he hasn’t told her. Wood says God continues to answer my prayers, continues to bless me and continues to speak to my heart. She also says, I can have a productive relationship with Jesus Christ as a gay Christian. I’m not a second-class citizen in the kingdom of heaven.”

In January 2007 the Lord opened my mind to a part of the above statement made by Cori Wood. I quote the article “If God opposes her lifestyle, Wood says he hasn’t told her”. Here is what the Lord spoke to me. “I have already told her as
it is written in My word but she has not listened.”

The Lord again emphasized that His gifts and calling are without repentance. That is, God will not take away what he has given each of us. God does expect that if we use and apply those gifts and
callings, we must obey the truth coming into the perfection of Jesus Christ. God is calling to us everyday to walk with Him in holiness. If Cori Wood and others use the gifts given by God while sinning against God, will they not hear what Jesus
spoke in Matthew 7:23? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (KJV)

Remember what Samuel spoke to King Saul in 1 Samuel 15:22-23. God will not be mocked.
