Where Do We Go In Trials?

“Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”   James 1:12

I don’t know about you, but it is hard for me to appreciate our need to go through trials. I look at this verse and it is not one of my personal favorites. In fact, trials in life are just plain hard to tolerate! This is especially true when we are in the middle of them. But as disciples of Jesus the Messiah, we have some key spiritual reasons to persevere under trials. God has promised positions in His coming kingdom to those who persevere in this age. The promise of reigning and co-ruling with Jesus Christ in a renewed earth is a big promise.
Testing and trials are not just given to believers. Everyone experiences these times of tension. People run to many things in order to find comfort. Some turn to alcohol, others to drugs. Some turn to the television. God wants us to not run away from Him to the world, but to seek His peace and comfort. He has promised to be our shield and strong tower in times of need.

When life gets tough, don’t forget we have a loving God who wants us to seek Him out.
