What is forever all about?

This was powerful and confronting (as Paul Washer usually seems to be).

Do you desire God?  Do you have passion for Him?  We’ve spoken about this before and it needs to be raised again.  What drives us?

Washer highlights an important idea in light of eternity.  God is the theme and focus and purpose of eternity, that is undeniable.  Why then would those who do not want God now want to want Him forever?  This is an important question we must ask ourselves.

It makes perfect sense why the first and great commandment is the first and the greatest – it is the test of our hearts – do we love Him, do we desire Him, is He first, and greatest?

Mark 12:29-30 – Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’

This is our God.  Love Him with everything you have.

The age to come is not about us escaping hell.

The age to come is not about us living forever.

The age to come is about God, and Him being glorified, forever.

Isaiah 60:21 – “Then all your people will be righteous; They will possess the land forever, the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, that I may be glorified.

That’s what today is about too.

Examine yourself.
